Valeria Orozco
Born in Miami, FL
Lives & works in Glens Falls, NY
Valeria Orozco, an American Colombian artist, has been immersing herself into a poetic conversation with painting and drawing. The thick application of paint and the use of palette knifes are essential in her process. The surface she uses can easily be manipulated with layers of paint, and change. Her process continues until she arrives to an image. These images often resemble a “romanticized” landscape or a “romanticized” object. Her work brings together elements of figuration, impressionism, and expressionism. Influential artists such as Anselm Kiefer, Joan Mitchell, CY Twombly, Helen Frankenthaler are evident throughout these works; but Valeria has been able to fuse them together in order to create her own world.
